Gamba Osaka trials innovative paper cup recycling scheme

Suita based football club Gamba Osaka has teamed up with Mitsubishi Chemical on a trial recycling scheme to develop a circular model for paper cups used during match days.

The chemical giant has given the club 100,000 cups made from its patented BioPBS™ compostable material to be given out to thirsty fans on match days.

The cups will then follow a cleaning and composting process onsite at the stadium using equipment supplied by Mitsubishi. If successful the cups will be converted into agricultural standard compost. Results from the trial are expected after the close of the 2022 season.

HULL FC players get hands on with boot donation initiative

1st team players Matt Ingram and Richie Smallwood were on hand last week at the Tigers Trust Arena to help clean a collection of donated football boots together with volunteers from the Trust’s Walking Football sessions and a group of school children who helped to organise the session. Boot donations came from a variety of sources including squad players, Hull City Academy, Umbro and fans in response to a social media led campaign. The spruced up football boots will be distributed by the club to children and young adults in the Hull and East Yorkshire area.
